AMPS - Looking
Ahead
It is no great secret that AMPS is having a hard time. Getting people to
volunteer to be directors or even judges has been a problem for the past
4 or 5 years. Submissions to the newsletter were few and far between. So
your board is looking at various ways of maintaining our beloved organization. |
We have been short of one director since Jim Beach passed away, so we are
appointing Ned Cordery as a director.
Ned has been invaluable to me in carrying out my presidential duties. He
has good ideas, ran the newsletter for a couple of years and cares deeply
about AMPS. |
| We are talking to a distinguished academic institution which has a lively
film department, with a view to having them take on the running of AMPS.
They would have to maintain the essential non-commercial aspects of AMPS
and run the competition along the usual lines. They may even be able to host
a real festival for enthusiasts to get together. Change such as this is always
uncomfortable, but it appears to be our best hope of maintaining the organization
and serving our members.
At this point nothing is settled, but we want to give you all a heads-up
that change will have to happen in the near future.
